Chairman's Autumn Run 2003

An Event Organized by

The New Forest Region

After the torrential rain of Saturday members of the Region met at our new meeting venue – The Beaulieu Road Inn – for a coffee and a chat at 10:30 before setting off for a short drive through the forest. We had a magnificent start to

the day – sunny, warm and DRY. The setting of the Beaulieu Road Inn in the centre of the forest made for a magnificent start to the day and ensured a good turn out.

With the cars, and occupants, raring to go the cars set off – Jags to the front others behind. We headed off to Lyndhurst and from there took the scenic route to Fordingbridge, on route we slowed to allow some deer to cross the road. From Fordingbridge we headed South towards Ringwood on some

narrow lanes, arriving at the Royal Oak around about midday. In a picturesque setting - a typical Forest village – line of houses on one side of the road and a stream on the other. We were made welcome from the time of our arrival right up to

Our final departure. We had been reserved a quiet area and were able to take advantage of the wide selection of ale and wine – at least the non-drivers could! The food was excellent, a broccoli and stilton soup followed by choice of beef, lamb or pork roast. Desserts and coffee available as required.

Unfortunately the weather deteriorated by mid afternoon and there was heavy rain for our return journeys.

A magnificent day out, all thanks to our Chairman for arranging the day.
